In the summer of 2006, Peter Oostveen, general manager of Oostveen Consulting (www.drosa.ro) and Pam Evenhuis, chairman of the Romanian foundation European Training Centre (www.europeantrainingcentre.eu) discussed the new law on Mediation, introduced on May 16th 2006. They came to the conclusion that this new discipline would be very unknown in the country. Pam had worked previously for a Dutch client, helping to introduce Mediation in the Netherlands, in early nineties. A discussion followed with Mugur Caracas, a very experienced laywer in Bucharest. It was then decided the organization of a workshop about the practices of Medation in Northern Europe, which took place on November 24th and 25th 2006, at the Petroleum-Gas University in Ploiesti.
One of the speakers was Sjoerd Homminga, a well reputated trainer on medation in the Netherlands, who started his company in 1998 (www.edumonde.nl). It was decided, noting the interest of the over one hundred participants on the seminar, to organize trainings on mediation in Romania. The only problem was that the legislation in Romania is there, but the criteria for mediation trainings were not set yet. So the course was organized on the most strict criteria of the United States of America, the European Union and the Netherlands. The assumption is that Romanian criteria would never be more severe than those which were mentioned.
The training materials and the DVDs were translated and subtitled in the Romanian language. The first training took place in March 2007, followed by a second one in May.

Because of the succes of these trainings Edumonde SRL has been founded by Pam Evenhuis, Sjoerd Homminga and Peter Oostveen on July 17th, 2007. The end of 2007 and the first half year 2008 five courses will be organized in order to train people to become a mediator.
