How to become a mediator
Edumonde Mediation SRL is organizing a Basic Course Mediation in Romania.
This course is approved by the Romanian Mediation Council in February 2008. This course is according to the standards of the European Union.
The lead trainer of this basic Course is Drs. Sjoerd Homminga. He is working in Romania with an international team, including specialist from Romania. Dr. Sjoerd Homminga is an international working trainer and mediator and is acknowledged by the Mediation Council. This basic Course is given in the English language. All the exercises are bilingual presented, as well as in the Romanian as in the English language. The professional mediation DVD’s presented during the Course are Romanian subtitled. The course consists of two blocks of three days each, followed by a theoretical exam and the assessment as demanded by the Mediation Council. The total time to be spent on this Course is at least 130 hours.
Admission criteria
The candidates will have to send in their CV. A University qualification is required as well as an employment history of three year. There will be an admission interview by the lead trainer.

- How does the mediation process work
- The impact and aspects of the role of the mediator
- The different dimensions of mediation
- Which mediation technique can be applied to which mediation dimension
- The effective use of negotiation principles in the mediation process
- The formal aspects of the mediation process
- How to handle conflict escalation
- How to handle emotions during the process
- How to motivate reluctant parties
Prices and payment methods
Price € 3.500 / person
Payments will be made subsequent to admission, either in total amounts or 3 instalments, as follows:
- € 1.500 - after the admission interview, before the start of block 1
- € 1.000 – before the start of block 2
- € 1.000 - before the exam and assessment
The exact payment due dates and methods of payment will be stipulated in the contract, to be signed upon admission
